About this stay

Your Eilat Retreat

First Impressions

Honestly, when I first arrived at קיבוץ אילות – חדרי אירוח עם בריכה משותפת, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. This unique boutique hotel without official star rating sits right on Kibbutz Eilot, and you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. It’s not your typical Eilat resort experience — instead, you’re staying in an actual working kibbutz where real people live and work, which gives the whole place an authentic Israeli vibe you just can’t get elsewhere.

The Kibbutz Experience

What really struck me was how this place operates more like a community guesthouse than a traditional hotel. The accommodations are simple but comfortable — think clean lines, practical furnishings, and everything you actually need without the frills. Each room has that no-nonsense kibbutz aesthetic, and while it might not be fancy, there’s something refreshingly honest about it. The shared pool area becomes this natural gathering spot where you’ll find yourself chatting with other travelers and sometimes even kibbutz members.

Location & Desert Setting

Here’s the thing about Kibbutz Eilot — it’s positioned perfectly between Eilat’s bustling tourist zone and the raw beauty of the Negev Desert. You’re close enough to zip into the city when you want those Red Sea beaches or duty-free shopping, but far enough out to experience the desert’s quiet intensity. I mean, stepping outside at night and seeing those stars without any light pollution? That alone makes the stay worthwhile.

Practical Matters

The communal kitchen setup works surprisingly well, especially if you’re traveling with a group or family. There’s plenty of parking space (which anyone who’s been to central Eilat will appreciate), and the staff — many of whom are kibbutz members — genuinely seem to care about your experience. They’ll give you the kind of local recommendations you won’t find in guidebooks, like where to catch the best sunrise views in the desert or which trails are worth your time.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t a place for everyone — if you need room service and a spa, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But if you’re curious about kibbutz life, want to experience a different side of Israel, or just prefer staying somewhere with actual character over generic hotel chains, this place delivers. The 8.6 rating makes sense because guests either really get what this place is about, or they don’t. Those who appreciate the authentic community atmosphere and the chance to experience desert kibbutz life tend to leave pretty satisfied with their choice.

Hotels in Eilat stretch along shimmering promenades filled with date palms, marina cafés, and breezy boardwalks.

Wouldn’t come

Pet friendly
Close enough and far enough from the city

What could be improved: Pool was shared with the all inclusive hotel at the kibbutz.
The pool staff and facilities is poor and crowded.
Breakfast was poor, mainly on Friday when they deduce the low variety for their weekend food market.
And.. there was an egg shell inside the omelette 🫤
We skipped dinner, based on the breakfast experience.

The staff were super nice.
Any request was answered positively with a smile. Extra effort around the kids..

Delightful stay with friendly staff and beautiful surroundings.

We had two self-catering mini-houses on the kibbutz and prepared our own food in the immaculate kitchenettes, so I can't review the restaurant facilities. The accommodation was simple but excellent, with very comfortable beds & linen. Everything was spotless and the air conditioning / heating was effective and easy to use. But the two things that really sold the place to us were the kindness & friendliness of the staff, and the delightful surroundings - houses are set in a beautifully-kept, mature garden with birds & flowering shrubs everywhere, and a backdrop of mountains. It's also only a short and easy drive to the seafront so is an ideal base from which to visit Eilat and go walking in the nearby valleys.

What could be improved: Nothing could be better!

Family stay

The place is very nice for kids. Green places and very quiet.
The breakfast is decent with various salads and plates. Mostly the same every day.
There are playgrounds for kids in the around.
Great pool and close to Eilat City.

What could be improved: There are no cooking facilities in the room. Only microwave and Hot water boiler.
The room itself is a little smaller for big families but with you are not planning to stay in the room all time so is good enough.

Very Good

The location, the pools of the hotel, the quite at the kibbutz, the sling on the grass outside the room

What could be improved: The room was a bit too small for a family of 5. There was not enough room for all of our cloths in the tiny closet and almost no room at all for our toothpastes on the extremely tiny sink cabinet in the shower.

Very Good

Very friendly host and beautiful setting

What could be improved: There werent cups for hot drinks, and the cups that wete there werent clean enough.
Also, i would think that in such a remote location with no shope at the kibbuze open on the weekend - sone shampoo and etc are necessery in the rooms.
