HI – Eilat Hostel
Your Eilat Retreat
First Impressions
When I first walked up to HI – Eilat Hostel on Derech Mitsraaim, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — the word “hostel” can be misleading here. This place operates more like a unique boutique hotel without an official star rating, and that actually works in its favor. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that immediately puts you at ease.
What Makes It Special
You know what struck me most? The staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good time in Eilat. They’re not just going through the motions — I mean, they’ll actually sit down and map out beach recommendations based on whether you want to snorkel or just lounge around. The common areas have this laid-back vibe where travelers end up chatting over coffee, sharing stories about their Red Sea adventures.
The Room Experience
My room was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly and the air conditioning was a godsend during those scorching Eilat afternoons. The beds are comfortable enough, and honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring the coral reefs or hiking in nearby nature reserves, you just need a decent place to crash. The bathrooms are shared in some configurations, but they’re well-maintained and there’s rarely a wait.
Location Perks
Here’s the thing about the location — you’re close enough to walk to the beach and the main tourist strip, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the chaos of drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. I actually enjoyed the short walk to the waterfront; it gave me a chance to see more of the residential side of Eilat. Plus, there’s decent parking available, which isn’t always a given in this part of town.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.7 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a few days here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — no pretentious lobby or overpriced mini-bar. Instead, you get reliable basics, helpful locals who work there, and that rare thing in tourist towns: genuine value for money. The communal areas actually encourage interaction (there’s usually someone around who knows the best spots for diving or where to grab authentic Middle Eastern food off the beaten path), and the whole atmosphere feels more like staying with knowledgeable friends than checking into a sterile hotel chain.

Guest Reviews
Everything was great, the location was the best
What could be improved: The pool was not so clean but other than that, everything was awesome
Location
Value for money
Nice pool
Very hospitable staff. Great location.
The rooms are spacious and clean.
Parking space is scarce.
Well worth the money.
What could be improved: There was a big group of children when we stayed, so the breakfast buffet was a bit crowded, and some of the products finished quickly, but were refilled quite quickly too.
1. Great location: close to the Mall, food courts, shopping, beach etc,
2. Very good breakfast, even simpler in comparison with stars-hotels, but fresh, tasty, and satisfying.
3. Nice pool with towels, partial sunshade, and a deck for sunbathing.
4. Very polite staff,
5. Room service, cleaning, facilities cleanliness.
6. WEB check-in.
What could be improved: 1. Extrem. limited hotel parking lot and no information about the free spot availability inside the hotel's territory. Once you're coming in you must continue along the narrow lane and suddenly find out that all parking spots are occupied and drive by reverse gear back to the street. Highly recommended to set up an electronic scoreboard at the entrance.
2. Inconvenient A/C location inside the room: cold air blows directly to your body and face.
Great location. Friendly staff.
What could be improved: They were renovating a flat one evg till 10:30pm. Disturbing.
Good location. Quiet place. Various food has been served on breakfast.
God value for moany and perfect location
What could be improved: It is a little confusing to get around
Breakfast only from 8:00, Need to ask for take away if you want before. Take away was very basic
Breakfast is superb!!
Great location and breakfast. Excellent value for money
This was a perfectly acceptable room. It was clean, big enough. Staff were friendly and helpful. Water view. Free Parking. Close to restaurants. We needed a place to stay for one night crossing the border into Jordan, and this was perfect. This is not a "star-rated" type of lodging, but was great for us.
What could be improved: The A/C couldn't be turned off (if you left the door ajar, that did the trick).
